Shake Shack

Touted as the New York version of In-N-Out, Shake Shack was a must stop on my eating tour of New York.

Fries, burgers, shakes, and hot dogs made to order (in addition to shakes and concretes), the line at the Shake Shack can get pretty long (equivalent to the drive-thru lines at In-N-Outs), which is why they have a Shack Cam on their website that shows potential customers a real time snapshot of the Shake Shack’s lines.

Although the crinkle cut frozen french fries at Shake Shack are no competition for the hand-cut fries at In-N-Out, these fries from Shake Shack were nice and crispy on the outside with a fluffy potato interior.

Just as vegetarian choices are limited at In-N-Out, I ordered the only vegetarian burger at Shake Shack:  the Shroom Burger. “Crisp-fried portobello filled with melted muenster and cheddar cheese, topped with lettuce, tomato, and Shack sauce.”

I love the Grilled Cheese from In-N-Out’s secret menu, but my brother was shocked to hear me say that Shake Shack is better than In-N-Out. When you compare the Veggie Burger or Grilled Cheese from In-N-Out, which consists of vegetables with or without cheese on a bun, to the Shroom Burger consisting of two portobello mushroom caps, breaded and fried, oozing with muenster and cheddar cheeses, come ON!
