OC Fair 2009

There are two more weeks left until the Orange County Fair closes, so this post might still be relevant! Except that it’s from our visit to the OC Fair in 2009. Awkward… Anyways, the 2009 OC Fair┬áran from July 10, 2009 through August 9, 2009. I entered the inaugural OC Fair 5K series in 2009, which included two 5Ks: at the “opening” of the fair on July 18, 2009 and at the closing of the fair on August 9, 2009. Included with the race fee was an OC Super Fair Super Pass which allowed me free entry to the OC Fair for every single day of the duration of the 2009 OC Fair. Devin and I only entered the fair once.

I had never seen deep-fried avocados offered at the fair, so I had to try them. They came accompanied with a pesto dipping sauce.

The thick breading overpowered the avocado flavor so that I was tasting everything that had been deep-fried in the oil rather than the avocados. The avocados were soft and creamy, but after eating a 1/3 of the plate, I couldn’t eat anything else that was on my list of things to try.

While I ate my deep-fried avocados, Devin tried the Deep-fried White Castle burger.

Devin had the same problem as I had with the avocados. The primary flavor was the oil rather than anything else.

The peach sundae was pretty good. Freshly sliced peaches with vanilla soft serve and whipped cream. Can’t really go wrong with that, especially on a hot summer day.
