Arab American Festival

This year’s Orange County Arab American Festival will be held on September 23 through September 25 at Garden Grove’s Village Green Park. After a visit two years ago to the OC Greek Festival where Devin asked a vendor if they sold falafel and was subsequently told that “Falafel are not Greek!”, four months later we found ourselves at the Arab American Festival where falafel was being sold in abundance!

This falafel pita sandwich was so tasty that I forgot to take a photo until I already ate half of it! The sandwich was assembled to order and contained some ingredients that I’ve never encountered alongside falafel, such as pickled radishes and a pickle! Then there were the usual suspects: tomato slices, iceberg lettuce, and tzatziki sauce. The falafel were dense and bright green on the inside. I liked this sandwich because of the uncommon ingredients which counteracted the bland tomatoes and iceberg lettuce.

This festival includes food and product vendors (many selling hookahs and hookah products), live music, and the best part is that admission is free!
